Full North Pole Orchestra at Jazz te Gast

Following the successful first edition in 2015, the unique Jazz te Gast festival will have an ambitious sequel on June 10. A selection of national and international artists will perform on 8 stages in the gardens of the main street De Gast in Zuidhorn. In the evening, there will be a grand closing concert featuring the full Noordpool Orchestra. The artistic direction of this edition is in the hands of the famous American trumpeter Dave Douglas together with the acclaimed guitarist Reinier Baas.

Jazz te Gast 2017 brings together distinctive combinations of top artists in the atmospheric gardens of De Gast. Dave Douglas (Artist in Residence), together with Reinier Baas (Artist Entrepreneur), is responsible for the artistic core of the festival. They invite a group of prominent Dutch, German, Swedish, and American jazz musicians to create brand-new material together in a short time. Participants in this ‘Green House’ include Joris Roelofs, Nora Fischer, Michael Moore, Jonas Burgwinkel, Ben van Gelder, and Petter Eldh, among others. The musicians gather in the village on the day preceding the festival and work on new material in new combinations in the houses at De Gast. They present this to the public the following day in short, fresh concert sets in the gardens at De Gast. Music will also be composed specifically for the festival. With this setup, Jazz te Gast is unique in the Netherlands.

In addition to this ‘Green House’, ensembles such as TBA, Sanem Kalfa & George Dumitriu & Demydczuk invites will also perform at Jazz te Gast, and the Noordpool Troupe ft. Janne Schra will perform! A special Talent Stage offers a platform for up-and-coming talent from the area.
In the evening, a collaboration between the soloists of the ‘Green House’ and the Noordpool Orchestra takes place. Tickets for this unique evening concert are available via the website for €16.50 excl. service charges.
