UNIQUE HOSPITALITY TRADE FAIR DUE TO DIVERSITY AND PREMIERES

On Monday, October 1st, the first integrated Hospitality trade fair and regional beer tapping competition will make its debut in the Martinikerk in Groningen. Under the motto “taste, try, learn,” 25 exhibitors will showcase their products and services in the nave of the Martinikerk. With a view of the grandiose organ in the Martini, the regional beer tapping competition will take place. Bartenders from the city and the surrounding area will compete for the “Golden Spatula.”

BEER TAP COMPETITION

Under the watchful eye of a professional jury, the participants in the beer tapping competition will tap and serve the most perfect flutes and vases possible in two preliminary rounds. After the preliminary rounds, fifteen finalists will remain to compete for the gold, silver, and bronze spatulas. In addition to tapping the most beautifully possible beers and pouring a bottle of specialty beer, Affligem Blond, time will help determine who can call themselves the best beer tapper in the city. The best tapper and the four runners-up will advance to the district final, where they can tap their way through to the Dutch championships.

HORECA TRADE FAIR

The initiator of the Horeca Trade Fair 2012 is Horecagroningen.nl. Under the motto “taste, try, learn,” visitors to the fair will be introduced to the wide range of hospitality suppliers. The service sector within the hospitality industry and suppliers of food and beverages will be represented. The service sector will include, among others, the vocational training programs of Alfa and Noorderpoort colleges, digital ordering via MyOrder, Pay-Rolling, and Randstad. Exhibitors showcasing their food and beverages include hospitality wholesaler DeliXL with five culinary tables, Jos Beeres Wine Merchants, Groningen distillery Hooghoudt, and many other stands where visitors can learn about future taste and product developments. Admission to the Horeca Trade Fair 2012 and the Beer Tapping Competition is free.

Hooghoudt PREMIERE

With a contemporary look, the Groningen distillery Hooghoudt is launching three Rijke Jenevers on the national market. Not only in terms of naming do the three jenevers possess the richness of a fine tradition, but also in terms of taste experience. Hooghoudt’s Rijke Jenever no. 24—fragrant and smooth, no. 45—full and warm, and no. 67—fresh and fruity—will usher in a new era of jenever enjoyment. Inspired by the original recipes of the 124-year-old distillery, Hooghoudt uses ingredients including lavender blossom, grapefruit, rosehip, spicy cardamom, grain alcohol from French winter wheat, and wood-aged malt wine. Hooghoudt is bringing three unique jenevers to market that can rival all the well-known fine spirits from Scotland, Ireland, and France. Hooghoudt will be offering samples at the trade fair.
