In the second week of 2017, Groningen will be the scene of Eurosonic Noorderslag for the 31st (!) time. While in 1986 names like Tröckener Kecks, Arbeid Adelt, and Fatal Flowers filled the main program, the fringe program has since grown into a collection of stages where the big names of contemporary music are eager to forget their hangovers for a while.
De Uurwerker is also participating again this year and has a small laundry list of bands and musicians on the program! From local talent to those already (inter-)nationally known. And a cocktail of genres so that every bon vivant gets their money's worth!

The Marsicans from Leeds (UK) make typical British indie-pop full of warm vocal harmonies, nervous guitars, and a tropical touch. In their home country, they have performed at Glastonbury, among other festivals, where they were even highlighted by the BBC as one of the highlights. Especially for Uurooosonic, they are doing a semi-acoustic performance!

Panenkov is the experimental alter ego of songwriter Marlon Penn.
As a vocalist, instrumentalist, and producer, he was involved in releases in 2016 by Polynation, Olaf Stuut, and KAAP, among others, but his DJ appearances are rare. Especially for UURSONIC, Panenkov selects only obscure, danceable tracks on the edge of electro, funk, and soul that will make the eardrums tingle and get many a cymbal moving.

Jeangu Macrooy traded the warmth of Paramaribo for a music career in the Netherlands. This was a commendable choice, as he is one of the most promising musicians of the moment. He opened for Blaudzun and 3FM ‘Serious Talent’, and his debut album, produced by the famous Perquisite, will be released in the spring of 2017.

FUNC (Chai Blaq & Misha have roots in Finland, Ukraine, the Netherlands, and Congo) = THE SHIT for anyone who loves Kaytranada, Anderson Paak, and The Internet. Guess what... They're actually from Groningen!! So go see them...

Friends of Soul was definitely a highlight of the evening hours last year. Expect plenty of disco, soul, and funk from the music masters of the past decades. So, get those hip exercises ready!

Tolls creates finely written songs for a warm living room (the wood-fired warmth of Uurwerker counts too) on an autumn day. An absolute must for singer-songwriter lovers and super local!
