On August 26, 27, and 28, Stichting Grachtenfestijn is organizing the three-day Grachtenfestijn event simultaneously with the celebration of the Relief of Groningen.
On Sunday, August 28, the Grachtenparade takes place, during which a long procession of boats will sail a circuit around the canals. The organization expects to grow to more than 100 decorated boats this year, with a Green/White theme.
The parade departs from the Zuiderhaven at 2:00 PM and will then make a circuit of the Diepenring, led by a spectacular flyboarder. During the Grachtenparade, various choirs, DJs, and bands will provide entertainment on and around the water. This weekend, there are more water events in the city of Groningen, such as the Ontzettende Drakenbootrace, the Swimchallenge, and Floating Paradise.
