Winterbreak, new dance event for and by students in Groningen

Normally, students party at their own associations; however, 2016 will be the year of “partying together.” Groningen is getting a new dance event called ‘Winterbreak,’ an event that will be organized for students by students.

The students will define the 1 themselves.^e edition of the ‘Winterbreak’ party at the Martiniplaza Groningen; from activities to artists and from decor to music, everything is conceived and organized in-house. Student and study associations wishing to associate themselves with ‘Winterbreak’ are welcome to join in and share their ideas; registration is possible via: contact@winter-break.nl.

The idea behind the party at the Martiniplaza is to party together at a large venue at least once a year, rather than within (student) associations. The 1^e The next edition of ‘Winterbreak’ is scheduled for February 12, 2016, immediately after the exams. Various ideas have already been put forward, such as live table football by student football association ‘GSVV The Knickerbockers’, and International student association ‘ESN’ wants an extra room for Latin music and 90s hits. The first announced artists have now been booked; for instance, the DJ duo GOLDFISH will be flown in from South Africa especially for the event, and ‘De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig’ is high on the wish list of many students.
