Deep-fried Food Festival 2019: THIS IS ON THE MENU

OOn Sunday, June 2, 2019, De Bruine Fruitschaal and EM2 present the fourth edition of the Frituur Festival. The program for the fast food festival is complete, so it is high time for tasty tips from organizer and master of haute frituur, Jornt Weersing.

The Frituurfestival revolves around the quick bite and offers visitors the chance to sample unique and innovative snacks. This edition takes place in and around EM2, and with both indoor and outdoor locations on the former Suikerunie site in Groningen, it is the largest edition to date. The snack innovators participating this year are:

  tip: the vegan kapsalon
• Cafeteria de Paardeschuur (Groningen)
  tip: eierballen, especially the huge number of variations they have come up with for this quintessential Groningen snack
• PEP Party and Fries (Giethoorn)
  Tip: the party. Especially in combination with fries.
• Snack bar of the future
  tip: tofu chicken nuggets
• Oil horn is introducing a new sauce alongside the well-known sauces, which will be available to taste for the first time at the Frituurfestival.
• The Mushroom Farm
  With organic oyster mushroom croquettes and beef croquettes
• The Brown Fruit Bowl
  From his own frying pan, Weersing tips off his latest innovation, the “Baasplankje.”

In addition to the food projects, there is more fried food-related entertainment such as the Wheel of Fries and a meatball magician. There are also traditional Dutch games and a bouncy castle for the children.
Café de Plak is bringing its DJs along to add a musical touch to the event, and there are also three live bands:

With their freshly pressed debut album ‘Distant’ in tow, they are ready to storm the Frituurfestival in sixth gear. From a young age, ‘fries’ was the answer singer and guitarist Stefan Boorsma shouted when he got to choose what to eat on his birthday. Expect danceable pop music with new wave influences.

After 10 years, Veluwe-Achterhoek dialect rock band Dat Doe’w is back. With their straightforward rock ’n roll and the well-known song “Frikandel speciaal”, they are a perfect match for the Frituurfestival.

Meerkat Manifest

The band treats everyone to a catchy mix of Funk, Reggae, Rock, and Blues, served with an irresistible dose of musical energy.
