Guillermo Cacace | El Mar de Noche
Fri 24, Sat 25, Sun 26 Aug | 8:00 PM
City Theatre
Heartbreaking and relatable, that is the performance El Mar de Noche. Somewhere in a hotel on the coast, a middle-aged man—actor Luis Machín—gazes at the sea. He is waiting for his lover, but knows she will not come. Their relationship is over, but he cannot break free from the emotional web. His monologue, written by the respected film and theater director Santiago Loza, is one of deep recognition and emotion.

Sex, drugs, and rock ‘n’ roll in 2018: twelve young people aged 18 to 23 from Groningen search for happiness in a disarming game of Russian roulette. The gun determines who gets to speak. About what? Colin Dunne | Concert
Fri 24, Sat 25 and Sun 26 Aug | 19:30
Grand Theatre
Colin Dunne sparked a revolution in the Irish folk dance world a few years ago by breaking radically yet respectfully with centuries-old traditions. His style is orthodox, warm, and unparalleled. In his theatre/dance performance Concert, Dunne dances to the music of Irish violinist Tommie Potts—also a groundbreaking musician. It is practically impossible to dance to the irregular sounds of the controversial album The Liffey Banks. Unless your name is Colin Dunne.

Fri 24, Sat 25 and Sun 26 Aug | 21:15
FRIDAY Theater
Eating a shared rice meal is a very familial aspect, according to young South Korean theater maker Jaha Koo. He therefore felt incredibly lonely when he switched on the Cuckoo – an electric rice cooker – and the device even wished him ‘bon appétit’. Now, in this humorous *Lost in Translation*, he engages in confrontational but also funny conversations with the rice cookers about his country, South Korea, his contemporaries, and himself.

Sarah Vanhee | Unforetold
Fri 24 and Sat 25 Aug | 19:30
The Machine Factory
Is darkness something to be afraid of? Not for Sarah Vanhee, one of the most exciting theatre makers of her generation in Flanders. For the fourth time in a row, we see her back at Noorderzon. In the performance Unforetold, theatre maker Sarah Vanhee questions children aged 8 to 11 about darkness in order to set aside the often entrenched thinking and behavior of adults. In doing so, she creates an entirely new logic, both verbal and non-verbal, which beautifully exposes how dark the light can be, and above all, how light the darkness.
